Mushroom 30,000 by Gentle Mystics
In a minute or two the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth and yawned once or twice, and shook itself. Then it got down off the mushroom, and crawled away in the grass, merely remarking as it went, βOne side will make you grow taller, and the other side will make you grow shorter.β
βOne side of what? The other side of what?β thought Alice to herself.βOf the mushroom,β said the Caterpillar, just as if she had asked it aloud; and in another moment it was out of sight.
Excerpt from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
There is much to appreciate about the fungi that are found everywhere on our planet. over evolutionary time, they have conquered the harshest environments and formed tight relationships with a whole host of other organisms. From the depths of the sea to the driest deserts, from within 'zombified' ants to within our own bodies, the fungi are feared foes but also very important friends for us and our environment. An understanding and appreciation of these amazing organisms are crucial for knowing how best to conserve the life of this planet, including our own.
Thank you Dr Amy Choong for opening our eyes to this amazing world!
